Important Notice Regarding Adult Student Registration Expiry
Alberta Distance Learning Centre (ADLC) is an entity of Alberta Education, and Pembina Hills Public Schools (PHPS) is the managing school division. ADLC has a Service Agreement with Alberta Education, and this agreement guides PHPS in the operations of ADLC. The Agreement is reviewed regularly to ensure Alberta Education’s expectations are met by PHPS.
Early this year, when ADLC’s Education Services were reviewed, it was determined that education services to unfunded adult students, whether or not tuition fees were collected, was beyond the terms and conditions of Alberta Education’s Service Agreement. Therefore, ADLC stopped accepting adult registrations on May 1, 2018.
As a currently-registered adult student at ADLC, this change in services may affect you in these ways:
The last date adult students can obtain a three-month extension is January 31, 2019.
Consequently, all adult course registrations will expire April 30, 2019.
We anticipate that there will be staffing adjustments in January 2019 as we focus on providing services to our school-aged students and to our partner schools.
Most of ADLC’s changes were posted by former Principal, Mr. Frank McCallum, on April 23, 2018, on the ADLC website. You may have also been receiving news of various aspects of our restructuring plan via various emails over the past few months.
We strongly encourage you to work very diligently to complete your coursework. Our teachers are prepared to give you new timelines to help you pace yourself and also to give you the tutorial help you need. Please know that we are here through April 30, 2019, to help you accomplish your goals.
